anyone here knowledgeable about event insurance for a wedding with fire performers? is it always an additional budget item or is it sometimes covered by the facility where you have the event?
any help would be appreciated.
also looking for leads in NJ/PA area for a location that allows alcohol, fire spinning, and camping out overnight. Hell I'm even thinking of looking at ramblewood :D but worried that the cost may be too high since it's a large property, and i'd like something SLIGHTLY nicer indoors in case of wet weather. plus it's a little further than i'd like.
thanks!!

Wed, September 30, 2009 - 7:35 AMhaha thanks. oh i should add, i know about the PERFORMER'S insurance, and depending on what kind of other insurance covers the event, we understand we may have to restrict it to only insured performers... but i wanted to know if you needed further insurance on top of that. -

Wed, September 30, 2009 - 7:43 AMMac and stef got married at the tiberino museum in west Philly which allowed uninsured fire and a sound system. Not much in the way of camping out though -

Wed, September 30, 2009 - 1:50 PMThe Tiberino is awesome but kind of cramped for fire performing, expecialey if you are going to have a lot of guests.

My home away from home. Gorgeous land, $10/night open camping on non-festival days.

Re: burner weddings
Wed, November 18, 2009 - 10:59 AMI'm not a lawyer but its my understanding that people sue the deep pockets and not the empty ones. That means whoever has the insurance. So if the venue, event planner, etc. have no insurance and the performer does, the performer will get sued and not the event. Its actually a great argument against having performer insurance. Venues require it because if you have no insurance and they dont either they become the deeper pockets simply because they're usually richer than the individual performer.
Anyway... sounds like an awesome wedding!
Hmmm... if only the bride and groom could find an awesome wedding photographer who's ALSO an awesome fire photographer...
If only such a beast existed.... :) -

Thu, November 19, 2009 - 10:24 AMhmmmm if only we could afford a photographer... :P
at this point i'm thinking it's going to be my cousin. not an event photographer, but has a masters and teaches photography in CA.
if we scrape enough together to splurge anywhere, it will be on photography. : / if you have weddings in your portfolio, shoot me an email at k8et1120 (at) gmail (dot) com and a rough idea of cost.
BTW - booked a venue, they were fine with fire performance, but hysterically thought we wanted it INSIDE. Um, yeah no right outside is cool, we can see it from the windows or go out where the smokers will be hanging out! -

Thu, November 19, 2009 - 10:30 AMFYI just came across a local venue that hires fire performers for indoor events and rents their ballroom for events and weddings. I'm pretty sure they would be down if you bring the fire out
